The precision of a bearing is defined by the Abec standard, which ranges from 1 to 9. The higher the number, the faster the bearings move forward, but without compromising on strength. Unfortunately, the shocks from the different tricks significantly weaken the ride, and immediately lead to its failure. This is why an Abel 7 bearing only has the advantage of running faster than the Abel 3, but in no way ensures better impact resistance. In all cases, to keep your bearings as long as possible, do not ride in water, avoid sand, and from time to time give them a cleaning with a rag and a drop of Speed Cream or oil. sewing machine.
There are two types of screws, cruciform (+) and allen (0), it's a matter of taste, no difference in quality. There are several sizes of screws. 7/8: just the right size to screw the trucks onto the board. 1 ': long enough to put pads. 1'1 / 4: to put two sets of pads if you really have big wheels 1'7 / 8: this is really for big pad, see also longboard. In general, 1 'is used which are the most versatile screws. Matching: 7/8 "= 2.22cm, 1" = 2.54cm, 1.25 "= 3.17cm, 1.5" = 3.81cm
There are two types of pads, hard and soft. In both cases, the pads raise the board and avoid the “wheel bite” (on landing, the wheel touches the board, automatically braking the skate). The hard pads are used only as booster, and the soft ones are also vibration absorbers.
There are several hardnesses of gums: soft, medium and hard . The INDEPENDENT trucks are fitted as standard with medium bushings. If you ride very tight, replacing your gums with hard ones is a good calculation, so you will get the desired setting without crushing your gums and damaging the threads of your Kin Pin, in the same way, if you ride really loose, go for flexible erasers.
It sometimes happens (especially if you ride very tight) that you break the axle of your truck. No need to buy a pair of trucks, just change the axle using a hammer and chisel. Note that INDEPENDENT has made enormous progress on the quality of its Kin Pin and that today it is really rare to break any.
The essential anti-slip to cover the upper part of the table top. It is very easy to install with a little practice. There are many brands of grip, with or without graphics… At INDEPENDENT SKATESHOP we mainly offer the MOB grip range, which, thanks to its clever micro perforation system, avoids any air bubbles between the board and the grip. We offer the classic MOB 9 'grip as well as the installation for any purchase of trays. Be careful if you order a board greater than 9 'wide : in this case we do not put the grip (it will be separate in the package), we also offer a 10' (transparent) or 11 'classic grip (to be added) in your basket), see the "Grip" section. We do not cut the grip to reveal a design on the top of the board. Regarding the "Old School" boards, by default, we do not seize them either, these boards are often intended for decoration or for the collection (please let us know otherwise).
It may happen that the site displays several visuals of grip plates for the same product, only one plate will be delivered to you depending on the stock, you can still give us your preference, we will do our best to deliver the desired grip.
Essential to assemble, disassemble, repair your board. In one tool you have everything you need: Allen key, Phillips head and 10 mm wrench for the screws, 13 mm wrench for the wheel bolts and 14 mm wrench for the Kin Pin.
It is used to lubricate a curb when it does not grind at all. Do not use over a perfect marble coping or curb. Be careful its use must remain punctual, very often, if it does not creak, it is enough to take more momentum!
